What is COSHH?

COSHH stands for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.

It Covers substances that are hazardous to health.

These substances can take many forms and include such things as:

  • Chemicals
  • Products containing chemicals
  • Fumes
  • Dusts
  • Vapours
  • Mists
  • Nanotechnology
  • Gases and asphyxiating gases
  • Biological Agents
  • Germs that cause diseases

COSHH does not cover Asbestos, Lead or Radioactive Substances.

Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH

The Level 2 Award is aimed at all employees and provides essential knowledge and understanding of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).

Who can apply? 

All employees can apply for this course. The course aims to provide understanding and essential knowledge of COSHH.

Course information

This course will cover the risk type of working with hazardous substances in the workplace.

It is a full day course with a 45 minute exam of 30 multiple choice questions.

Award on completion

Certificate accredited by Ofqual (6 01/ 2317/ 5).

Level 2 Award in COSHH Risk Assessment

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 require employers to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health.

Who can apply? 

This course is available for supervisors and employees to control exposure to hazardous substances and prevent ill health.

  • Competencies required of COSHH risk assessors
  • Hazardous substances and their effects on the body
  • Main classifications for hazardous substances

This course will cover anyone carrying out COSHH risk assesments.
