Driver CPC Training
From 10th September 2009 all professional drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes must hold or be working towards the Driver CPC. This is a course designed for those who want to work as professional drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes including lorries, buses, coaches and minibuses. There are no tests to CPC Training and it is not a pass or fail course.
The main aim of Driver CPC is to improve road safety, providing better qualified drivers to help reduce road casualties. It is aimed not only at improving the knowledge and skills of LGV and PCV drivers when they first start work, but also ensuring those skills are maintained and developed throughout the driver’s working life.
The following licence categories will be affected by Driver CPC: C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D1, D1+E, D, D+E
The course will cover:
There are three main groups of subjects:
- Advanced training in rational driving based on safety regulations
- Applications of regulations
- Healthier roads and environmental safety, service and logistics
The content of the training is designed to deal with subject matter that is relevant to the driver in their day to day work.
This is a 5 day – 35 hour course
