Test Centre Rules
You will not be allowed to bring anybody into the Test room with You.
Any items You are carrying (including personal items such as keys, phones, bags, watches, wallets and any documentation) must be stored in a secure personal locker provided at the Test Centre.
Please note You must not refer to any document during the Test.
Our Test Centre does have CCTV with Tests recorded for security and detection or investigation of fraud purposes. CCTV footage is retained securely by Attain for a period of up to 30 days.
Any misconduct by You during the Test will result in Your Test being stopped, Your Test result void and Your Test Fee being forfeit. Candidates guilty of serious misconduct, including cheating, may forfeit their right to take a further Test.
In addition CITB reserves the right to revoke a Test pass if it reasonably suspects that You have been involved in or are linked to any misconduct, fraud or cheating.
Types of CSCS Cards
Below are a list of cards and a brief outline of the qualifications you need to have to apply for that card.
You can apply for this card if you have either:
Passed the QCF Level One or SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.
or
Hold a valid Site Safety Plus Health and Safety Awareness Course certificate
or
Complete the IOSH Working Safely course which must have been acheived within three years prior to making an application.
All applicants must also pass the Operatives CITB Health Safety & Environment test.
This card is valid for five years.
You can apply for this card if you have either:
Achieved a construction related NVQ or SVQ level 1
or
Completed a regulated construction related award, certificate or diploma, which is recognised by CSCS.
This card is valid for five years and can be renewed on application.
This card is available to people who are registered on a recognised apprenticeship framework.
This card is valid for four years and can not be renewed.
Applicants for this card do not need to take the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test if they have met their Apprenticeship Managing Agency’s health and safety requirements before applying for the card.
This card is available to Supervisors and Managers with on the job experience (normally at least one year in the last three) who have not achieved a construction related NVQ or SVQ level 3, 4 or 5 (or construction related QCF Level 6 or 7) and are not a member of an approved Professional Body.
It is issued on a temporary basis, while a Construction related NVQ or SVQ is being achieved. It is expected to be replaced by a skilled five year card on achievement of a Construction related NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or higher.
All applicants must be registered for the relevant Construction related NVQ or SVQ and have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the past two years. For Supervisor occupations you should take the Supervisors test and for Manager occupations you should take the Managers and Professionals test.
The card is valid for three years and cannot be renewed.
This card is available to workers with on the job experience (normally at least one year in the last three).
The card is valid for one year and cannot be renewed. It is issued on a temporary basis, while a Construction Related QCF qualification is being achieved. It is expected to be replaced by a skilled five year card on achievement of a Construction Related NVQ or SVQ Level 2 or higher.
An Experienced Worker Card cannot be replaced by a Labourer or Provisional card.
All applicants must have passed the relevant CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the past two years and be registered for the relevant Construction Related NVQ or SVQ.
This card is available for supervisor occupations subject to:
- Achievement of a Construction Related Supervisory NVQ or SVQ level 4
- Holding a pre-existing Construction Related Supervisory NVQ level 3
This card is valid for five years.
All applicants must pass the Supervisors CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test.
This card is no longer available with effect from August 2016
This card is available if you if are a trainee and are registered for a qualification that leads to a skilled CSCS card (in most cases a NVQ/SVQ)
PLEASE NOTE: SSSTS, SMSTS and NEBOSH General will NOT be accepted as a route to this card.
The card is valid for five years and can not be renewed.
All applicants must pass the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment test.
On completion of your qualification, you are expected to move onto the appropriate skilled CSCS card for your occupation.
You can apply for this card if you have either:
Achieved a construction related NVQ or SVQ level 2
or
Completed an employer sponsored apprenticeship which included the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate.
All applicants must pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test
This card is valid for five years.
This card is available if you have either
- achieved a Construction Related NVQ or SVQ level 3 or
- you have completed an approved indentured apprenticeship (e.g.with NJCBI, BATJIC etc.) or
- completed an employer sponsored apprenticeship which included the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate.
This card is valid for five years.
All applicants must pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test.
This card is available for manager occupations subject to:
- Achievement of a Construction related NVQ/SVQ levels 5, 6 or 7 in the relevant construction management level qualification
- Holding a pre-existing NVQ level 4 in construction management.
This card is valid for five years and is renewable.
All applicants must pass the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test.
This card is available to people who have completed certain construction related degrees, HNDs, HNCs, CIOB Certificates and NEBOSH diplomas.
This card is valid for five years.
All applicants must pass the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test.
This card is available to people working in construction related occupations not covered by other CSCS cards.
This card expires on 30th September 2017 and is non-renewable.
- From 1st October 2015 you will be expected to register for a nationally recognised construction related qualification before the card expires
- Only one occupation will be displayed on the CRO card
- CSCS will stop issuing CRO cards from 31st March 2017
All applicants must pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.
This card is available to competence assessed members of CSCS approvedProfessional Bodies
This card is valid for five years.
All applicants must pass the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test.
When you apply for this card you will need to provide a copy of your current professional body membership certificate or card or supply a letter or email from the professional body confirming that you are a current, competence assessed member.
This card is available to people who frequently visit a construction site, but have no construction specific skill.
This card is valid for five years.
All applicants must pass the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test.
The issue of this card does not relieve the site managers from their legal obligation to ensure the health, safety and welfare of people entering their sites.
This card is for people who are:
- working through probationary periods while employers assess their suitability for employment
- undergoing supervised work experience (aged 16+)
- working as a labourer but not yet completed a recognised qualification for a labourer card and not previously applied for a CSCS card
Applicants must have passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the past two years.
This card lasts for six months and is not renewable. Before it expires Provisional card holders must achieve or be registered for a recognised construction related qualification and apply for the appropriate CSCS card for their job.
Plus: HVACR Specialist tests for:
Domestic Heating & Plumbing, Pipefitting & Welding, Ductwork, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and Services & Facilities.
We can now test the same day as the test is booked but revision is highly recommended as the NEW test is much harder than it used to be.

Cancellations & Rescheduling
If the test is cancelled without giving 72 hours’ notice, you will NOT get a refund.
A refund will be paid for all cancellations outside of the 72 hour notice period, but will incur a £23.50 administration fee.
A full refund will be paid for test cancellations outside the 72 hour notice period, which will not attract an administration fee.
Refunds will be made by the same means you paid it.
ASK reserves the right to cancel (including cancellation on the day of the test) if the Test Centre experiences a problem outside their control (including but not limited to electricity failure, security alert) and in such circumstances you will be offered an alternative Test date.
If you wish to reschedule the test you MUST do this at least 72 hours before the scheduled test date.
There will be no charge for rescheduling the test outside the 72 hour penalty period.

Privacy Policy
Our records indicate that you have voluntarily given personal information to Pearson VUE so that we can book your test and forward the results to CITB for certification or licensure. In order to protect that data and your privacy, we have established and abide by data protection measures that are compliant with all requirements for “Safe Harbour” designation by the U.S Department of Commerce. Safe Harbour standards meet or exceed all requirements of the European Union Data Protection Directive and member country requirements.
