National Vocational Qualifications

We offer NVQ/QCF & Diplomas Level 2, 3, 4 & 6.

What are NVQ’s

NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. This Qualification is a mixture of on and off the job training, practical and theoretical. The learner person has to build up a portfolio of evidence during the time they are working towards their level of qualification. The learner will be visited in the work place by an assessor who will watch and assess specific jobs carried out to meet the requirements of the NVQ.

NVQ’s  are  available  to anyone at any age or stage of their career, and  people can progress through the various levels of qualifications. To achieve an NVQ you do not have to follow a particular training programme. This makes the qualification flexible and accessible.

Employers  report  that NVQ’s help them to reduce their staff turnover, increase their productivity, reduce the level of accidents, recruit and motivate individuals.

The Assessment Process

Assessments are a method of capturing evidence which will show that you are competent in the different aspects of your job and can demonstrate that you have the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks to the required standard every time.

This evidence could be captured by:

  • Taped Conversations
  • Video Footage
  • Natural observations carried out by your assessor
  • Written Questions
  • Oral Questions

You will be required to keep the evidence you collect in a portfolio which when complete will be assessed by an assessor.

Assessments are carried out continuously throughout the programme by a qualified Work Based Assessor and can happen whenever your employer, assessor and you yourself, think you are ready.
